I have always wanted our garage to look just as good as the inside of the house. I shared my vision with DH and we made it HAPPEN!
I LOVE TEAM WORK!
To get the project going I cleaned out the garage days before because we had a lot of stuff inside taking up precious space.
I LOVE TEAM WORK!
To get the project going I cleaned out the garage days before because we had a lot of stuff inside taking up precious space.
This is the day the project started. First Step Paint the Entire Garage! |
Second Step Prep the Floor=clean the debris, paint the edges and caulk the perimeter! |
Preparing the Paint with the Base! |
Team Work Makes the Dream Work |
Thank God for this Ceiling Fan! It provides some great air while DH is working inside the garage on his motorcycle. It looks so beautiful in person! It also provides additional lightening. |
These cute little carpet runners were purchased from Home Depot. You must special order them. It only took a week. |
The door knob is ORB and I did not feel the need to change it; however, we did change the knobs on the closet system to ORB! They seem to work well with the black in the space. |
The carpet runners had to be tacked to the steps. We had this Stanley Steemer Rug from our previous location which works perfectly with the color scheme. |
It's absolutely stunning! What paint did you use on the floor?
ReplyDeleteCheck out Lowes for the variety of expoxy floor paint.
DeleteThat is amazing! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Britni! I love the way it came out.
DeleteThat's got to be the first time I've ever seen a ceiling fan in a garage! Something like that would have come in handy when it was 90+ and humid as heck when we were finishing our garage.
ReplyDeleteThe garage looks good! Definite improvement from the way Ryan leaves the garages.
How difficult was it to coat the floors? I looked into that but was hesitant because it seemed like a lot of work to clean/strip the floor before painting on the epoxy and I was a little nervous about the acid application part.
We only used the acid on the spots that were greasy or stained. Let the floor dry and started painting. It does look intimidating;however, it is rather easy to do.
DeleteSo, just when I thought my garage was finished... you go and post this. LOL Now my boyfriend is set on doing our floors too! After that, I think it'll really be done, I hope! =)
DeleteYou are going to love it M! It definitely completes the look.
DeleteOMG... you're making me look bad! I am still trying to get my house together and you're decking out your garage!!! I LOVE it! I told my husband a few weeks ago that we should put a ceiling fan in the garage and he told me that it would look crazy. Well, I am going to show him a picture of your super fabulous garage! :-)
ReplyDeleteLol I actually love love the fan in the garage! ! We have found it so helpful and I love the additional lightening.
DeleteMy hubby has worked hard to make the garage his man cave. He works for a company that makes carpet tiles and is hounding craigslist for an ac unit. I will have to tell him about the ceiling fan idea for the meantime. He has a Goldentee arcade game and installed a projector from the ceiling with a pull down screen for his other golf game. Now he can practice his swing all winter. He has our old flat screen up too which is great since I am not a fan of NASCAR and football so he can watch them in his own space. :)
ReplyDeleteThe fan was my DHs idea! We submitted it as an additional electrical option because he likes being in the garage working on his motorcycle.
DeleteYour garage is beautiful! You really do pay attention to all the details so that they all come together!
ReplyDeleteThank you J & M!! I have so many ideas that I can't wait to implement all of them.
DeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteLove it as usual!! We have way way too much stuff to do that...LOL..heavy tools and more heavy tool and racks from the ceiling!! We said we should have done it before we moved in, but the garage is kinda last on your list sometimes...LOL!
ReplyDeleteDo you think the floor will be slippery when its wet with that application?
My boyfriend and I were looking at the garage floor stuff at Lowe's after seeing this post... and they have an Anti-Skid Floor Texture additive that you can add to the paint. We were worried about the floor being slippery too, but it looks like that additive would fix that issue.
DeleteHere's a link... http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/find-the-right-product/concrete/anti-skid-floor.html
Looks fantastic! I just want to be able to park inside the garage - I'll have to wait a year or more for this level of awesomeness in our garage!
ReplyDeleteSuperb job, so nice to see it looking so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Mikie, thank you! It really feels like apart of the house instead of the extension of the house.
Deleteit just gets better and better!! you make me excited to decorate!! can't wait until we can start making our house our HOME too!
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle, so when do you plan to decorate and what will be your first project. YAY!
DeleteWith all that is going on (we found a renter for our townhouse-Amen!) I am not sure. We have been spending all our time making repairs and fixing up the townhouse. We still have boxes to unpack at the new house! I am not rushing it though; life has been so stressful the last couple months most likely we will decorate when things settle down. I am looking forward to it though. Hopefully sometime in the near future!
DeleteNicest garage I have ever seen! I have total garage envy!
ReplyDeleteAwww...thank you *colette*. We had fun getting it together!
DeleteNice work RickandNadase! I would like my garage to be like yours!! fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you HappyMe! I can't wait to you complete your garage project and show your garage off too. It makes such a big difference.
DeleteWow, I have never seem such a nice garage. I like the ceiling fan, I never thought about adding one there. I also like that the paint on the floor should make cleaning up oil easier. I was thinking of sealing the garage floor after we move in. I also like the cabinets, they look so much better than the ones most people us in garages but not so fabulous that you worry about them in a garage.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Melissa!! The coating is very nice and feels better on bare feet. I tend to run out into the garage to the refrigerator that we kept instead of selling it. I would definitely seal the floor and caulk the entire garage from bugs/insects. The cabinets are custom cabinets from Closet Stretchers. We had them custom our closets too.
DeleteMelissa, can't access your page anymore. It is blocked!!! :-)
DeleteOh WOW! It looks like a beautiful room, not a garage! I'm so gonna share this with my husband...I'm sure looking at this he'll be motivated to do ours too...currently we hate the way it looks.....too much unfinished!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!!
Absolutely!! It completes the house! It was one of the many projects I wanted us to tackle because I hate the way the leave it.
Deletevery nice, we are still settling in after 2 months and our garage is far from clearing out!! Hopefully we will meet up again at one of the fairwood mtgs, i only met you once when our house was under construction!
ReplyDeleteHow are you enjoying your new home. They are doing a lot of building in your section. You know they have 300 homes they plan to build on the opposite of your street. You can always stayed with me through email or text.
DeleteWe are loving the home, yessss a lot of building is going on, Saturday morning when they were hammering down a roof was crazy on top of the planes that decided to come in back to back! I will def keep in touch, you know I never got a house blog up & running -__-
ReplyDeleteI don't know what is going on with the planes; however, i see them quite often than I used too. Send me an email to proctorhousehold@gmail.com so we can stay connected. We usually like to get together with other families in the neighborhood.
DeleteHow nice!!! I have decided that I am going to cancel our contact with RH and just move in with you guys... :) Your house is SO beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOMG....you just made my DAY! This is too CUTE! You are too CUTE! Love it!! Thank you so MUCH!
DeleteLooks great! Putting a ceiling fan in the garage is a genius idea! Did the specks come in the paint already? I saw some at Lowes and Home Depot where you buy the specks separately and have to shake them on the floor yourself. Being premixed would be less scary...
ReplyDeleteThe specks come in a separate container as saw in the store. It's real easy. You paint a small section and shake. It works well with two ppl or can easily done alone. I thought the floor was too dry to put some specks on it and later discovered it was still in the drying mode and it worked out nicely.
DeleteThis looks wonderful, your color choices are very complimenting to an area that's typically dark and dreary (garage). Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jess Jess! The color scheme flows into the house too. My color scheme in the house is cream, espresso, charcoal, and pops of the color orange.
DeleteOwwwww!!!! I LOVE the cabinetry!! This is a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteHey are you still around? I used closet stretchers thanks to your recommendation! The closet system was niceish...the designer was ok but I'm not sure about their "patch" job.
