Garage Project is Complete! YES!

I have always wanted our garage to look just as good as the inside of the house.  I shared my vision with DH and we made it HAPPEN!
I LOVE TEAM WORK!
To get the project going I cleaned out the garage days before because we had a lot of stuff inside taking up precious space.

This is the day the project started.
First Step Paint the Entire Garage!

Second Step Prep the Floor=clean the debris, paint the edges and caulk the perimeter!

Preparing the Paint with the Base!

Team Work Makes the Dream Work

DONE!
We also purchased some mini white blinds for the window that you do not see in the picture.  It is a wonderful contrast.  So the color scheme is cream, white, black.  The floor has the same color speckles mixed in the paint.  It looks gorgeous.  I love walking in the garage and feeling like we are still in the house.

According to the instructions, it takes 48 hours to Dry!!
I was so nervous about ruining the floor that I wanted us to wait at least 72 hours plus! In this picture, we were figuring out placement.  I forgot to take a picture of the rearrangement.

Thank God for this Ceiling Fan! It provides some great air while DH is working inside the garage on his motorcycle.
It looks so beautiful in person!

It also provides additional lightening.

These cute little carpet runners were purchased from Home Depot. You must special order them. It only took a week.

The door knob is ORB and I did not feel the need to change it;
however, we did change the knobs on the closet system to ORB! They seem to work well with the black in the space.

The carpet runners had to be tacked to the steps.  We had this Stanley Steemer Rug from our previous location which works perfectly with the color scheme.

  1. It's absolutely stunning! What paint did you use on the floor?

    1. Check out Lowes for the variety of expoxy floor paint.

  2. That's got to be the first time I've ever seen a ceiling fan in a garage! Something like that would have come in handy when it was 90+ and humid as heck when we were finishing our garage.

The garage looks good! Definite improvement from the way Ryan leaves the garages.

How difficult was it to coat the floors? I looked into that but was hesitant because it seemed like a lot of work to clean/strip the floor before painting on the epoxy and I was a little nervous about the acid application part.

    1. We only used the acid on the spots that were greasy or stained. Let the floor dry and started painting. It does look intimidating;however, it is rather easy to do.

  3. OMG... you're making me look bad! I am still trying to get my house together and you're decking out your garage!!! I LOVE it! I told my husband a few weeks ago that we should put a ceiling fan in the garage and he told me that it would look crazy. Well, I am going to show him a picture of your super fabulous garage! :-)

  4. My hubby has worked hard to make the garage his man cave. He works for a company that makes carpet tiles and is hounding craigslist for an ac unit. I will have to tell him about the ceiling fan idea for the meantime. He has a Goldentee arcade game and installed a projector from the ceiling with a pull down screen for his other golf game. Now he can practice his swing all winter. He has our old flat screen up too which is great since I am not a fan of NASCAR and football so he can watch them in his own space. :)

    1. The fan was my DHs idea! We submitted it as an additional electrical option because he likes being in the garage working on his motorcycle.

  6. Love it as usual!! We have way way too much stuff to do that...LOL..heavy tools and more heavy tool and racks from the ceiling!! We said we should have done it before we moved in, but the garage is kinda last on your list sometimes...LOL!

Do you think the floor will be slippery when its wet with that application?

    1. My boyfriend and I were looking at the garage floor stuff at Lowe's after seeing this post... and they have an Anti-Skid Floor Texture additive that you can add to the paint. We were worried about the floor being slippery too, but it looks like that additive would fix that issue.

      Here's a link... http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/find-the-right-product/concrete/anti-skid-floor.html

    2. With all that is going on (we found a renter for our townhouse-Amen!) I am not sure. We have been spending all our time making repairs and fixing up the townhouse. We still have boxes to unpack at the new house! I am not rushing it though; life has been so stressful the last couple months most likely we will decorate when things settle down. I am looking forward to it though. Hopefully sometime in the near future!

  12. Wow, I have never seem such a nice garage. I like the ceiling fan, I never thought about adding one there. I also like that the paint on the floor should make cleaning up oil easier. I was thinking of sealing the garage floor after we move in. I also like the cabinets, they look so much better than the ones most people us in garages but not so fabulous that you worry about them in a garage.

    1. Thank you so much Melissa!! The coating is very nice and feels better on bare feet. I tend to run out into the garage to the refrigerator that we kept instead of selling it. I would definitely seal the floor and caulk the entire garage from bugs/insects. The cabinets are custom cabinets from Closet Stretchers. We had them custom our closets too.

  17. Looks great! Putting a ceiling fan in the garage is a genius idea! Did the specks come in the paint already? I saw some at Lowes and Home Depot where you buy the specks separately and have to shake them on the floor yourself. Being premixed would be less scary...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The specks come in a separate container as saw in the store. It's real easy. You paint a small section and shake. It works well with two ppl or can easily done alone. I thought the floor was too dry to put some specks on it and later discovered it was still in the drying mode and it worked out nicely.
