Which Refrigerator did you BUY and WHY?

We opt not to get the refrigerator from RH because I have always wanted a French Door with Water Dispenser!  I have seen so many versions and would like to know what you think of your refrigerator and which model are you currently using?  Would you recommend or not recommend it?  I keep flip flopping back forth between the Counter Depth LG or the Samsung with Apps? Please share your feedback.  Thank you.

  1. Have you guys went to the store and checked them out? That's what decided it for us. I thought the Samsung's just "felt" so much better than any other brand. Opening the drawers, or the doors, and feeling the quality of the handles made it an easy decision for me. According to the sales rep Samsung is the leader in refridgeration too. So, we went with the Samsung 29c.u. with ice/water in the door (not the apps version) and love it!

  2. We also wanted a french door w/water dispenser! We had it narrowed to an LG & Samsung as well after checking Consumer Reports & Home Depot/Lowes/Sears reviews. We looked at both of them in the store & while I preferred the fact that the LG had the hidden ice dispenser on the door, we decided to go with the Samsung b/c it had the most cubic feet (& produced the most ice, since we're always running out in our current fridge).

  3. My November issue of Consumer Report came this week and it has the top refrigerators in it.. The top rated French Door fridge was the LG LFX28991(ST). It says it got an overall score of 85/100 but it cost $2700. THe Kenmore 7160(3) is the second best with a score of 83/100 and it costs about $1600. The Samsung RFG298HD(RS) from Lowes is rated fourth with a score of 81/100 but is more expensive at $2800. I don't consider CR the holy grail but I love that they do all the research and I can use it as a guide. Hope this info helps.

  4. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Samsung French Door with wi-fi! I use the Weather Bug and Pandora app every day. I love the layout and the snack drawer. We have had it for 1 month. http://ryanhomesjourney.blogspot.com/2012/08/my-refrigerator-to-be.html

  5. WE purchased the newest GE model that just recently hit the market. It has the external water and ice dispenser however this one has a cool feature that auto fills containers or glasses with water without you having to hold the glass or container up against a switch ....just place it on shelf /rest and walk away and the GE frig automatically senses what size container it is and fills it with correct amount of water.

  7. My biggest must have was the capacity. I can't stand a little fridge. While there is only three of us, we love to cook and love to eat so I need to have space. The next must have was water with filter and ice maker. These are things we can't live without. Some models have a quick ice function which I used to have and now do not. I miss this feature, especially when entertaining. Over than that, what's left is all about what you prefer to have. Some like french doors, some like side-by-side. Some like stainless, some like black. In my opinion as long as it can hold what you need it to, provide clean, cold water, and it fits in the space then the rest is gravy.

  8. We are a Samsung Family when it comes to TV's we believe best on the market...its a trusted brand, BUT.....we have always done the "scratch and dent" store since our family works there and have always gone with the DEAL...LOL..Hubby said hell no to the new house, so Im in sticker shock what the fridge really costs...LOL

So I would learn toward the LG but the Samsung with APPS sounds soooo much fun, after we move into my mom's house for a few months we will have some free time, then we will physcially go to the stores...

Also in PA, we MUST buy a microwave too........any ideas on those...

    I am thinkin Convection Oven???

  9. I got the same refrigerator dewniro bought, the Samsung french door with drawer, no apps, 28 cubic feet. After a lot of research, I found it had the highest customer satisfaction rating, one of the lowest energy consumptions and I got it on a kick ass sale on Labor Day. Regularly $3200, got it for $2099. Shop around, its always on sale at Lowes or Best Buy each week, bouncing around on price.

  10. Interesting post, because we are now looking for a refrigerator. we chose to get the basic model RH gives you, thinking we would have a few months to get a new fridge. this thing is TINY!! My family came over yesterday and brought food over. and the fridge is packed!!! the only plus for me is the ice maker, i love ice and our old fridge didn't' have an ice maker. LOL....I'm tempted to go out and buy a fridge this week, and just put this one in the basement or something. I'm not a fan or the french door fridges, side by side seems fine for us, and I know my daughter will be all in the freezer if we get one with the freezer at the bottom. lol

  11. I gave up my LG when we moved and went what Ryan offered. It's my husband and self and it keeps the food from spoiling...but I always liked the Samsung!

  12. we purchased the same samsung but without the apps. The reviews for the apps is pretty bad due to bad wifi on the fridge. the apps are pretty much useless with no wifi. while standing at best buy we watched the wifi drop during the demo and the signal was perfectly fine. We also paid only $2099 for the fridge. i dont have much experience with GE fridges, but I was not impressed by the reviews online. samsung was the best reviewed by far.

  13. I know this post is old, but today we bought the Samsung without APPS, french door 28 c feet for $1413.00....It was HH Gregg's pre black friday sale with an additional 11% off due to 11-11 today.......We got a kick butt deal, but have to keep it in storage till house is done..LOL........and we also got $100 gift card due to the fact we opted to pick it up and not deliver it....booyaaaaa!

Only gamble we took is.........dear lord............I hope it fits in our kitchen....

Anybody ??? Know any dimensions, with this fridge fit??? LOL... Our SR said that its the same as in the model and this fridge will fit in the model but stick out a bit......its 32inches deep............I do not prefer the counter width.

    Please input ....

    1. That is an awesome DEAL!! You will have no problem putting your lovely fridge in your kitchen!!!! You will have a minor extension with the 32 inches and it will be fine. The opening can accommodate a refrigerator up to 35 3/4 wide. I thought I wanted the counter depth but the cubic feet was way too small. I figure if we are going to pay for a french door I want the space inside the fridge too. My husband liked the LG and I was stuck on the Samsung with apps. After comparing the two fridges with the color of the stainless steel and the shape of the handles on the doors to coordinate with our other appliances and all the additional features we decided on the Samsung with APPS and delayed delivery until January. I am so excited--it is such a cool fridge.
