Building Bloopers!! Plus More!

Okay, this is a video with Wii bloopers that I found absolutely hysterical!  I chose this one because it was funny and hopefully funny to others because when we are building our homes and run into a blooper it does NOT feel good AT ALL; however, at some point we eventually laugh or smile about it at the least.

The process is simple for this blog.  Just identify your building blooper or someone else's blooper that you would like to add to the comment section.  I wish I knew how to add the link so that you can add the picture to my blog and if I could I am not sure if it would take up my storage space.  If you do, please share instructions.  I witnessed a couple bloopers on the blog that I thought were unbelievable!  I couldn't imagine the workers not taking note of the framing, etc.

Here is one of my all time favorites, I still don't understand what they were thinking or smoking:

Blooper #1

This is a Rome model under construction.
The workers framed out an opening for the morning room sliding doors above the well way exit from the basement.
Blooper #2 (Nadase's)
My Kitchen backsplash is horrific!!  I did not think about the directional pattern of the granite.  My entire focus was on the color of the backsplash and it's pattern.  I goofed.  The pattern's are in competition with one another and that is exactly what you don't want.   I may be able to tone it down with a paint with gray undertone, glass pendant lights and other accessories to take the focus of the backsplash.  Right now, my plan is to rip it out and replace it with a neutral color split level backsplash that I wanted from the beginning.  I wish I stuck with my original choice.  Lesson Learned:  Follow your GUT!!

Blooper #3
Okay, I thought this person would add this blooper to the list but since he has not let me do the honors:

Part of the laundry room was installed upstairs and the other part downstairs.  I am sure the PM would have caught this blooper but I thought it was very interesting that the guys did not take notice of this mistake.

Blooper #4
I arrived to our building site and found the workers prepping to install the partial brick front.  There were four stacks of brick and I was concerned that the color did not look like I imagined it.  So I immediately went to each stack and noticed three had the same color (which wasn't my choice) and the other stack was our choice of color. The guy was just about to install the first roll of bricks and I asked them to stop.  The head worker said "he was going to use all four stacks and mix the brick of our choice with the others".  Imagine that!!  What!?  I have no idea what it would have looked like but it would have definitely been a remix!

Blooper #5
The entire house was flipped and flopped.  It was supposed to be built with the reverse floor plan; however, they flip one level in the opposite direction.  I just don't get it!!  How is this possible??

  1. Luckily our biggest blooper was the cabinet guy hanging the cabinets on the wrong side of the refrigerator space. He completely blocked the water line for the refrigerator by installing a cabinet over it. I figured that would have been really obvious, but I guess not. At least it was an easy fix!

    1. M, I thought this was funny too! You had me running to my house to check where the water line was installed because our fridge opening is very similar to yours. Lol.

Glad it was an easy fix too!

  2. It's not really a blooper, but I thought it was funny when we found a pair of shorts in our bushes right before our house was finished... http://movingtothecountryryanhomes.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html.

  3. Our master bath water closet opened inward, you would have to shimmy inside to close the door so you wouldn't want to be in a hurry!!! It was fixed :)

    5. Though we don't have a blooper yet, I am sure there would be one down the road. I definitely need to keep my eyes open, but how do they not caught any of the bloopers during inspection

    6. @ Brian. I joined your page and invited others to your page so you should have a few more followers now. :-)

@ Summer n Kelvin You will have one maybe two - it seems to never fail. Most times they get fixed with no problem.

  4. I would have to say our drywall blooper as well--"the wave." The crooked window is too annoying to be funny. :) Maybe once it's fixed (IF they fix it), we can look back and laugh. LOL

    1. You are right! That was amazing to see. I kept turning my head in different directions. Do you know what caused it to come out like that?

    2. It was a bowed rafter. We still don't know what they did to fix it and because of the location, it would be kidn of difficult to figure out. I guess ignorance is bliss in this case!

  5. Our Major blooper was that during one of my visits to the lot I watched as a back hoe backed up into my foundation creating a large hole next to my crawl space entrance. You can read about it and see pics at http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=6649384554786080370#editor/target=post;postID=2755909941546198419
