a LOT delayed!!!!

I posted several days ago that we finally made it to the schedule for our pre construction meeting on Wednesday, September 26 and scheduled to break ground TODAY, Tuesday, October 1.  Finally, right!?

Well, mother nature has another plan, we will not be breaking ground today or tomorrow because it will be raining both days with a 60% chance of rain each day.  Two Lots (52 & 28) were breaking ground this week which is out of the norm, because we only had one PM to handle the building load.  We now have an additional PM which allows for our PM to manage breaking ground on two homes per week.  LOT #52 was scheduled yesterday and did not break ground and as I mentioned we were scheduled today!  Considering all goes well, we will break ground on Thursday or Friday of this week.

So what do we do...WE WAIT--AGAIN!!

On another note:   During our pre construction meeting with our PM, we made a few discoveries that have been addressed with the exception of one.  I asked our PM about it but he wasn't aware of the sink I described.  I explained that I thought we were getting the upgraded sink with the 60/40 split because we ordered the upgraded faucet.  It turns out that this was never explained to me in detail so I referred to the selection sheet yesterday and discovered under countertops:  upgrade sink #1 and sink #2 for the same price of $450.  I have no idea what they are or look like; however, I am clear that I wanted the 60/40 sink.  I emailed our original SR and she replied that it was an option and we had time to look over the MSS to select this option and since we did not, we cannot add any other options at this point.  I am NOT happy about this because I know I brought it up in our meetings, but we had so much going on that it became an oversight along with the other discoveries during our pre construction meeting such as the color of our granite countertop, the placement of our double patio doors in the basement and the soap and towel bars in the bathrooms.  So I sent another email requesting for the sink to be added to the last change order that we are still waiting for with the other missing items we discovered.  I have not heard anything as of this moment; but I am certainly hoping it can be done because I cannot imagine not having the sink I want in my dream kitchen that I spent time creating over the past several months.

The 60/40 sink w/St. Cecilia Granite we chose in our kitchen!

  1. Did you specifically order the double patio doors for your basement?

    1. Yes, I did! They had to confirm the wall I wanted to have it placed on because it did not specify it on our drawings.

    2. Just make sure that those doors will have two panels that open, if that is what you are expecting. We ordered the double-welled entrance to the basement too but what we got was a two paneled door that had only 1 panel that swings open and the other was stationary. I emailed our SR about this right away but was told that was the only double patio door that Ryan uses.

    3. Hi Carly, thank you very much. I believe it has only one panel that swings open. I think the distinction would be to ask for french doors because both doors open but not sure if the french doors are suited for inside and outside.

  4. Oh Nadase such a process.....some things were missed in our meeting too and all but one have been rectified, but we had to pay, when I know we spoke of it and since it was missed we still also had to pay even though I budgeted it into the final price, out final price............went up due to the missing items...

Wow you picked out your placement of towel bars, I was gonna do that at our pre drywall, should I do that now???

    1. Hi DW! I requested to keep the towel bar and soap dish out of the master and guest bathrooms that have the surround tile. The towel bar doesn't come inside the master but it will in the othe baths. I think it looks hideous against the surround tile. lol. I am only getting the soap dish and towel bar in the basement bath because it has the same ceramic material.

    2. Aww man Nadase.. Now you have me second guessing the(corner)soap dishes I added to the master bath. I too have the surround tile and paid a little more to get the stone soap dishs. At first I felt like I needed somewhere besides the bench to put things on while in the shower..but now I'm thinking I'd much rather see clean lines in the shower (without the interruption of those dishes, two at that). I wonder if it's too late to X those out of the plans. I should have went with my gut. LOL!

    3. Ohh no!! Don't do that! We will have two Durango soap dish shelves in each bathroom upstairs! I was talking about the tradtional white against the surround looks hideous! Lol keep the shelves! Both bathrooms were upgraded and I couldn't imagine having a white towel bar and soap dish inside the surround!! Lol smiley face!!

  5. Ohhh. Whew! *wipes forehead* I've had sleepless nights over my bathroom.. starting with choosing the wrong vanity from the MSS. I have been thinking about those soap dishes long and hard. I too could not imagine white ceramic soap dishes against all that beautiful tile.

    1. I understand the agony all too well! I spent many sleepless nights over every room but more so over the kitchen bathrooms and exterior. I finally changed the bathroom and added the Durango stone shelves which makes for a much better presentation. I chose almond ceramic with bone grout for the basement and kept the towel bar and soap dish there since its the same color and materials.
